The IntegraRack IR EarthBallast™ Kit includes everything needed to mount up to 12 solar modules using this robust method. The kit features a 3-foot by 50-foot roll of durable geotextile fabric, typically employed in earth filling and rock wall retention projects, along with a caulk gun-sized tube of high-strength 5-minute epoxy and two mixing nozzles for attaching the fabric to each frame’s base tube. Once applied, the geotextile is rolled out over the wet epoxy and stretched from one frame to the next, creating a secure and expansive surface atop the frame base tubes where an earth mound can be placed.
Each solar module section width should be supported by a mound of dirt, crushed rock, or road base approximately 15 inches high or weighted with about 700 pounds of ballast fill material. Filling can be efficiently handled with a skid-steer loader, tractor, or shovel.
While stakes are not required for installation, they are recommended to enhance stability and security of the setup.
